Job Description
Hire Up Healthcare is currently seeking an Pathology Referral Assistant to join a large medical practice in the Houston area.
Shift: Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm
Key Responsibilities:
Organize and archive patient tissue glass slides and paraffin tissue blocks in numerical order, ensuring accurate filing and retrieval from storage.
Process requests for returning or retrieving tissue materials from the warehouse, documenting all transactions in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
Prepare patient tissue slides and blocks for mailing to external facilities, ensuring proper packaging to prevent damage, and manage tracking through LIS.
Handle mail delivery duties, including twice-daily pickup and drop-off of departmental and institutional mail, and sorting mail within the department.
Assist with additional clerical tasks such as data entry, answering phones, and copying, as needed.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of experience handling patient tissue slides/blocks or working in laboratory acquisitions (required).
Clerical experience and computer proficiency are preferred.
License/Certification: No certification required.
Work Location:
This position is onsite at the Houston, TX location.
